Assignment3: StoryTelling with photos

For this assignment, I first came up with the idea of making a spooky/horror/ghost related story. But since I am not proficient enough to create ghostly figures in photoshop, I decided on an object or a thing that went missing. So the idea of PersonA sleeping and then find that his/her blanket went missing. To do that I decided the scene to be at night to create a spooky kind of atmosphere. Hence, the title: The Blanket's Thief. Below are the photos:

Well, I think most people will get what the story is about with just the pictures and the photos. What happens is this (Spoiler!!):
1) She's sleeping.
2) She suddenly wake up and find something is missing.
3) She realized that her blanket has moved to the edge of the bed.
4) She noticed that there is something else below the bed.
5) Someone 'stole' the blanket and used it to sleep on the floor.
6) The similar scene as 5 but with a bigger perspective. You can see both the 'thief' and the main character. She is thinking of whether to remove the blanket from the 'thief' or just let it be.

Assignment2: Making Images Talk (Abstraction)

For this second assignment, I have chosen Japanese Garden as the place of interest. I faced numerous difficulties for this chosen piece. At first I assumed that I do not have to draw out all the features of the garden and straight away choose to pick out the distinctive features of the garden: the pagoda, tree and bridge. However my classmates felt that this does not look like a garden at all. So they suggested adding in the rocks below the pagoda. I also think of putting in more trees and add in bushes/grasses to make it more like a garden. So gotta work more on it.

Abstraction Lecture

For the lecture on abstraction, we were asked to complete this activity: choose an object and draw out its representation. My friend, Joann and I decided on the fire extinguisher and represent it as a shower/ water host pouring out fire. My drawing may not be convincing but I think you should get the idea of what I mean. The fire part does not really look like fire due to my drawing abilities.

A1 Concept2 Presentation

As for the second concept, it is ok but just need to make some very minor changes according to my critics. One of them suggested that instead of having two books, I can have one open book positioned in the L shape. The cap has to be tilted the reverse way so that the tail will form the alphabet a nicely.

A1 Concept1 Presentation

Finally, the first concept from assignment1. I change the table to picnic mat but somehow it does not come out nicely. So Ms Siti asked me to change to table. As for the sun, alternatively the class suggested that to use clock to depict the time in the morning since the table will be indoors. So I have to make the changes accordingly soon.

A1 Concept2 Presentation Draft

For the second concept, most of my ideas are more or less similar. In the end, I decided to put the worm, book and face as forming my nickname Lina. The graduation cap is added in to make the a alphabet more obvious.

A1 Concept1 Presentation Draft

After the presentation, I decided to mix and match some of my ideas to create a much better presentation to illustrate that I like breakfast time. I also added in a table for the food to be laid out and a sun to symbolize morning time

For the second concept, I would like to illustrate the fact that I'm a bookworm. I had a little help from Ms Siti asking her what are some of the things that I can draw that I can associate with bookworm. So here are some of the rough ideas I had in mind.
